DEVOTIONAL SUBJECT: San Ysidro, Saint Isadore
ORIGIN: Mexico
MATERIAL: Oil on Tin
APPROXIMATE SIZE:  10 by 14 inches
AGE:  c. 1850 to 1900
CONDITION: Excellentm, with restoration around the aura of clouds.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: A very unusal protrayal of San Ysidro.  The church is emphasized in the foreground whereas  normally the church is relegated to a background position.  Also unusual is that San Ysidro has an aura of clouds around his upper body.
This retablo shows sunshine as well as rain.  San Ysidro traditionally prays for the sun to shine.
This is a retablo in very excellent condition: no rust or no paint flaking.

DEVOTIONAL SUBJECT: Santa Rita de Casia, Saint Rita of Casia
ORIGIN: Mexico
MATERIAL: Oil on Tin
APPROXIMATE SIZE: 10 by 14 inches
AGE:  c. 1850 to 1900
CONDITION: Very Good
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:  I have compared this presentation with many other Santa Ritas and find that this one is very different as she is holding her left hand upward with nothing in it.  I have not seen this posture before.
I belive this retablo was painted by  Donaciano Aguilar  known as the "pink lip painter".  He is known by the pink lips on his retablos as well as the unique and peculiar shrubs/cacti looking leaves found on many of his retablos.  A very nice retablo of a favorite subject matter.
