The old German Fraktur writing at the bottom of the painting is:

"Wer zu ehren der S. Kuemernis alle Fritag
5 Vater Unser und Ave maria betet und 3
Wax Lichten brent, wird in keine noth und
gefahr kommen".

Translated in English as:
"Whoever honors Saint Kuemernis every Friday,
prays 5 Our Fathers and Ave Marias, and burns
3 wax candles, will not come to need or danger".

In Germany and Austria, there is a story about this saint in that a young man entered into a cathedral where Saint Kuemerniss was displayed in a figure form hanging on a wall.  The young man began playing his violin to the saint.  While playing, the saint became animated and kicked off one of his golden shoes which landed before the man.
The man took the shoe and showed his gift to some of his villagers who reported him to the police.  The police arrested the man for stealing.  The violinist tried to explain what had happened and how he had acquired the golden shoe, but the police did not believe him.  After much pleading the man was taken to the cathedral and was allowed to play his violin again.  The saint again became animated and kicked off his other shoe.  Needles to say, the violinist was released.
