Iron Knife. This old knife is from the early 1800's and could have been a household knife or a mountain man's companion piece. The end of the handle has a "curly que" tail typical or early forged iron, especially from the Spanish Colonial culture.
The back of the knife blade could have been used as a flint striker in starting a fire.
The blade seems to have the initials of V and A on it.
Length is 9 3/4 inches; blade is 6 inches. Condition is excellent. Patina is typical dark brown.
